Graphic Design Intern for International Rescue Committee: Newcomer Youth Summer Academy.

  • Graphic Design Intern

    Create a friendly and neutral logo for field trip t-shirts. Main focus: coordinate with program director and photographers to create a yearbook that encapsulates American academy culture while keeping it fun and creative.

  • International Rescue Committee’s Newcomer Youth Summer Academy supports the personal growth, cultural adjustment, and education of 100-120 young people, ages 4-22, who have recently resettled in New York City. combine an arts-integrated curriculum with English language learning and key school readiness assets. Helping Academy’s students, who are affected in various ways by their immigration status, successfully transition into the U.S. school system.

  • Creation of multiple layout versions that were voted on by peer staff before print. Coordinated with photographers to obtain activity photos, headshots, and photo release permissions.

    Created using InDesign and Illustrator. Formatted for print production — several dozen copies printed.

Each year NYSA focuses on a theme that guides personal growth for the youth and staff. For 2024 it was Peace, doubling as an acronym for Persistence, Empathy, Achievement, Creativity, and Empowerment. The design was based off these values to create colorful visual storytelling of connection.
